This is the Latest News about Florida Department of Education Most Treasure Coast sophomores taking the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test for the first time passed reading and math sections, needed for a high school diploma.
t's finally report card time for Florida public schools: Those much-delayed and highly anticipated letter grades will be released at noon Friday, according to the media office at the state Department of Education.
The 2010 grades were held up until this week, because of two outside audits of this year's Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Superintendents from Broward, Palm Beach and around the state had raised concerns about possible anomalies with some of the scores.
But on Wednesday, Education Commissioner Eric J. Smith said the scores are totally valid and "mom and dad at home should have confidence" in them. Here's our story about the audit results and reaction.
Despite pleas by superintendents to delay the grade release, Smith is standing behind theexaminers' reports. He said the results show that the scores fit within historical patterns and there's nothing unusual about them.
